The Central Project Management Agency (CPMA) has announced a call for waste managers focused on “Developing Recycling Capacity for Plastic Waste,” offering a total of €16.8 million from the Cohesion Fund for projects during the 2021-2027 period.

“Most plastic beverage bottle packaging is recycled by the Lithuanian population, positioning us among the world leaders in this area. However, we must explore innovative ways to effectively recycle the increasing volume of plastic waste generated each year. This call presents a valuable opportunity for waste managers to leverage EU support in contributing to a cleaner future for Lithuania and enhancing the prospects of a circular economy,” stated Simonas Gentvilas, Minister for the Environment.

Funding levels

Funding will be provided for the establishment or enhancement of recycling infrastructure for sorted municipal plastic waste collected in Lithuania, with a maximum grant of €6 million available per project.

Funding levels will range from 40% to 75%, depending on the size of the company and the region where the project is implemented. All project activities must be completed by November 30, 2028.

Applications for funding are open until March 24, 2025.

The projects will be co-financed by the European Union.
