Lithuania’s Commitment to Justice and Support for Ukraine

Participation in the EU Justice Ministers’ Council

Today, Lithuanian Minister of Justice Rimantas Mockus is participating in the EU Justice Ministers’ Council meeting in Warsaw.

Lithuania’s Position on Supporting Ukraine

According to Rimantas Mockus, Lithuania intends to rally the international community to continue its unwavering support for Ukraine and effectively contribute to strengthening justice and ensuring security in Europe.

The minister emphasized that Ukraine’s victory is a shared strategic interest. Therefore, the political will and leadership of EU member states are essential for implementing key legal processes. Lithuania will advocate for further steps toward establishing an international Special Tribunal and ensuring full accountability for Russia’s international crimes committed in Ukraine.

Call for Stronger Political and Financial Support

“We must mobilize the broadest possible political and financial support for the establishment of the Special Tribunal. Given the dynamic geopolitical situation, it is crucial to accelerate justice processes for the benefit of the Ukrainian people, uphold international law and human rights principles, refuse to compromise with the aggressor, and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. The Special Tribunal must serve as a model for enforcing international law,” emphasizes Rimantas Mockus.
